Supporting the communities within which we work

At IPC, we built IPC Cares to bring together the various efforts we make towards enhancing the communities within which we operate. By adopting causes that are close to our hearts, we keep ourselves committed and accountable.

Last year alone, as a company, we supported the aid efforts on the Fort McMurray fires, palliative care through The Healing Cycle Foundation and women and children through The Salvation Army.

Perhaps the most significant effort we undertake, and one that we believe is representative of the kind of work that inspires and keeps us committed to our CSR efforts, is the community development project in Honduras with The Carpenteros & Friends. Last year’s project involved a group of IPC staff and Advisors volunteering their time and energy on the ground. Very little is as inspiring and rewarding as living the lives of the people you’re helping, and every one of the people who took the journey came back a changed person, even more determined to stay committed to making a difference in the world!

We also made countless small but significant contributions of our time and resources within our communities through many grassroots charities we believe in, and the ripple effect of their efforts are always rewarding.

We are proud to support The Tourette Syndrome Foundation of Canada by way of financial resources and advocacy. The TS Foundation has been instrumental in creating awareness and support for children, families and educators who must deal with TS and associative disorders.
Established in 1976, the Tourette Syndrome Foundation of Canada (TSFC) is the only federally registered, charitable organization of volunteers assisting individuals affected by Tourette Syndrome (TS) and its associated disorders. We are dedicated to improving the quality of life for those with, or affected by, Tourette Syndrome through programs of education, advocacy, self-help and the promotion of research.
Mission: The Tourette Syndrome Foundation of Canada is a national voluntary organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for those with or affected by Tourette Syndrome through programs of: education, advocacy, self-help and the promotion of research.
Vision: All people who have Tourette Syndrome will lead quality lives as accepted and valued members of an informed, tolerant society.
Strategic Direction: The TSFC has identified five key strategic themes that will enable the organization to move toward achieving our vision. Our focus through 2010 will be in the following five areas;
• Awareness and Acceptance
• Capacity Building
• Funding
• Research
• Public Profile
As a federally registered, charitable organization of volunteers, we receive no government funds for our operations. All programs are provided by the organizations ability to fund operations from annual programs including membership, fund raising events at the national and chapter levels, specific project grants, sales of goods & merchandise and annual donations. The need to focus our attention upon the five key strategic themes will allow for the growth of our organization in addition to our day to day business.
Purpose: In fulfillment of its mission, the Foundation disseminates educational material to individuals, professionals and agencies in the fields of health care, education and government through its local affiliates. These Chapters, Resource Units and Contact Representatives across the country help TS patients and their families cope with the problems that so often occur with a diagnosis of TS.
In collaboration with the National body they help raise much needed awareness in their respective communities. The TSFC also stimulates and funds research that will ultimately find the cause of and cure for Tourette Syndrome and, at the same time, lead to improved medications and treatments. In addition to the development and distribution of print material, the Foundation also:
• Encourages development and supports affiliates across the country
• Advocates on behalf of vulnerable members
• Produces a tri-annual newsletter
• Organizes workshops and symposiums to increase the knowledge and sensitivity of health care professionals and the community at large • Provides periodic forums for scientists and clinicians and others working in the field of TS
• Offers an opportunity to join others affected by TS to discuss common problems and foster mutual support; and
• Supports the Brain Bank Program and collaborates with other agencies dealing with neurological disorders
The Tourette Syndrome Foundation of Canada (TSFC) is a national, federally registered (#11926 7862 RR0001), charitable organization of volunteers that was established in 1976 to assist individuals and families affected by Tourette Syndrome (TS) and its associated disorders.
